Ben Affleck Directing Again, Spike Lee Beefing With Judd Apatow?

Ben Affleck is apparently attempting to make it in Hollywood, but this time as an eggheaded writer/director (though yes, we’re aware he already directed, “Gone Baby Gone” and had a writing credit as well). He is currently in negotiations to direct and star in “The Town,” which is Warner Bros. latest heist-romance flick. Affleck is also rewriting the existing script by Peter Craig. [THR]

Spike Lee recently ended his feud with Clint Eastwood, but may have started another with the biggest producer of last year, Judd Apatow. When an employee of Sony Pictures approached Lee with a poster of his new film “Miracle at St. Anna,” the employee stated his intent on hanging the poster in the studio next to the other posters of films whose scores has been recorded there. Lee responded to this by saying, “Yeah, OK. Don’t put us next to Judd Apatow, whatever that guys is. We gotta be next to Spielberg and Williams.” Did somebody forget to tell Lee that Apatow has more clout in Hollywood than he does? [DeadlineHollywood] PS, this Deadline Hollywood story basically confirms the rumor which we posted a few months ago that said Lee had quashed the Eastwood beef at a basketball game thanks to Steven Spielberg.
