Russo Brothers' AGBO In Talks WIth David Gordon Green To Direct Cambridge Analytica Film Penned By 'Avengers: Endgame' Writers

If you were thinking that Joe and Anthony Russo would stick to superheroes after their stint with the Marvel Cinematic Universe just ended, you’re sadly mistaken. After creating the massive production company AGBO, the duo is producing some high-profile projects with some of the biggest names (including many of their MCU friends), but nothing, so far, has to do with people in capes or suits of iron armor. And their latest project, in fact, sees them team up with their “Avengers: Endgame” writers for a new project about one of the biggest information controversies in recent memory.

According to Deadline, AGBO is developing a new film about the infamous Cambridge Analytica/Facebook scandal that rocked the social media platform last year. Written by the duo of Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely and directed by none other than David Gordon Green, the untitled film will focus on the man purportedly at the center of the whole situation, Christopher Wylie, and is resulting in huge fallout, including a $5 billion settlement between Facebook and the Federal Trade Commission.

David Gordon Green is currently prepping his second run on the rebooted “Halloween” franchise for Blumhouse (could be a trilogy, if rumors are accurate) and will begin work on the Cambridge Analytica film immediately after, with a 2020 start date being eyed.

As mentioned, Markus and McFeely worked closely with the Russos on their MCU films, which included the huge box office (and critical) hits, “Captain America: Winter Soldier,” “Captain: America: Civil War,” “Avengers: Infinity War,” and the most recent ‘Endgame,’ which is one of the biggest films of all time.

For those not aware of the Cambridge Analytica controversy, the film will shed light on the company that utilized the thousands of illegally-obtained data points that Facebook collects from its users and used that information to form disinformation campaigns that greatly influenced the 2016 US Presidential election, as well as the Brexit vote.
