English actor Alfred Molina, who has the innate ability to be ethnically polymorphous at the drop of a hat, is joining the cast of “Abduction,” a John Singleton thriller starring Taylor Lautner that sparked a bidding war that Lionsgate ultimately won (the spec script allegedly sold for $1 million which is great for a spec script, everyone apparently wants a piece of the hot, stud “Twilight” star).
Lily Collins (“The Blind Side”) will play Lautner’s love interest and the story centers on a young man (the washboard stomach kid) who uncovers the truth about his life (he was kidnapped) after finding his baby photo on a missing persons website. Alfred Molina will apparently play a CIA agent. Lautner may be hot at the moment, but this project sounds like a completely rote thriller (ala something like “Disturbia”) and something we’d probably have seen Hilary Swank and Cuba Gooding Jr. in a few years ago. They have a name for these projects: straight to DVD. Or wait, mild box-office hit.
We can only hope they play this gem of a song throughout the entire movie…
