So…generous promotion or simply showing every good moment of a movie before it’s due in theatres? We’ll let you guys decide, but we’re leaning toward the latter, because this brand new, four-and-a-half-minute red band trailer for “Kick-Ass 2” hardly leaves any surprises for when the the flick drops next month.
A mix of footage from the previous spots, along with plenty of new material, this reel for “Kick-Ass 2” essentially takes you through the entire story. From Kick-Ass and Hit Girl re-teaming, to the formation of the super-villain The Mother Fucker and his band of baddies (each getting a comic character introduction) and lots of action beats, including a (poorly greenly screened) battle on a moving fan which seems to be included in its entirety. But perhaps the worst crime of all? If “Kick-Ass” felt fresh and irreverent this…doesn’t…. It seems to suffer the fate of many sequels, in which it equates bigger with better… And in fact, it kind of looks like every superhero movie it’s supposed to be riffing on…
Thoughts? You know where to leave ’em. “Kick-Ass 2” arrives on August 16th.
