All The Money Was Spent On Hats & Wigs: New Images From 'The Three Musketeers'

Film Will Open The Tokyo International Film Festival

We didn’t think Paul W.S. Anderson‘s very loose adaptation of Alexandre Dumas‘ famed novel could look any more ridiculous — this thing has fucking flying boats — until we saw the picture above. And then we realized “The Three Musketeers” will be greatest/worst thing ever.

A bunch of new stills from the film have arrived and it looks like at least half the budget was spent on at the haberdasher for hats, while the rest went to outfitting the cast with wigs (or they borrowed them from Nicolas Cage). Christoph Waltz in particular seems to be taking a Cage-ian approach to outfitting his head with golden locks. Also, so many hats and feathers and billowing shirts! If you’re a nut for period garb, this 3D film might be your porn. Starring Logan Lerman, Milla Jovovich, Matthew Macfadyen, Ray Stevenson, Mads Mikkelson, Gabriella Wilde, Juno Temple, Orlando Bloom, the aforementioned Waltz and Luke (loud and proud?) Evans, it’s certainly not lacking in star power so no surprise it will be opening TIFF. No, not that TIFF, but the Tokyo International Film Festival.

Swords, blouses, hair, waistcoats and carriages will all battle each other at your local multiplex starting on October 21st and the film will walk the red carpet in Japan a day later on October 22nd. Check out the images below (you might want to turn down the brightness on your screen). [Blogomatic 3000/THR]
