The thoroughly complete hoodwinking that Noah Baumbach pulled with his shot-on-the-sly Greta Gerwig vehicle, “Frances Ha,” has meant a celebration of the director’s rejuvenated style, and an even more fierce inquiry into what he’s hiding next. Apart from his color companion piece to “Frances Ha,” there’s the long-gestating Ben Stiller comedy “While We’re Young,” which recently snagged Adam Driver and Naomi Watts for its cast, and now, it appears, will add one more.
The film stars Stiller and Watts as an older, forty-something couple who cross paths with a younger, carefree couple, and with Driver secured as one-half of that pair, Amanda Seyfried has just been announced (via The Wrap) as the other. The “Les Miserables” actress is currently filming Seth MacFarlane’s “A Million Ways To Die In The West,” and will make time for Baumbach’s film before moving on to “Z For Zachariah” with Chris Pine and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
When we talked to Baumbach on the “Frances Ha” press rounds, the director seemed confident that the film would shoot this fall, and is definitely eager to get started. “It’s a script I wrote before ‘Frances,’ he said in our interview. “At one point I thought I was going to make it first but things didn’t come together so I made Frances in the mean time, but I think it’s coming back together in a really great way.”
We’ll hopefully see the results soon, but in the interim, “Frances Ha” is in theaters now, and well worth your time to see..
