Amazon Orders A Full Season Of The 'Jack Reacher' Reboot Series Based On Lee Child's 'The Killing Floor'

It’s official— Jack Reacher is back!

But this isn’t an announcement about Tom Cruise’s above-average action films that have been released over the last decade. No, we’re talking about the recently announced reboot that is making its way to Amazon Prime Video in the future.

THR is reporting that Amazon has signed a series order to bring at least one season of “Jack Reacher” to its Prime Video service. The first season will be based on the Lee Child book “The Killing Floor” and will attempt to introduce the world of “Jack Reacher” to a new audience. It’s clear that Amazon is hoping that the new series will bring viewers that enjoyed the recent reboot of “Jack Ryan.”

“Jack Reacher” is being showrun and developed by Nick Santora, who is the man behind the recent series “Scorpion,” as well as “Prison Break.” Needless to say, Santora knows a thing or two about action TV shows.

“Lee Child has created an incredible character and world,” said Santora. “It will be the goal of every writer, producer, actor, executive and crew member to capture the essence of Mr. Child’s books — and luckily Lee has been there, and will continue to be there, to help guide us along the way in this series. He is the pulse of ‘Reacher.’”

Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, said, “Lee Child’s ‘Jack Reacher’ book series is a global phenomenon with one of entertainment’s most well-known heroes, and a perfect fit for Amazon Studios’ slate of bold, character-driven series. We look forward to expanding the of the ‘Jack Reacher’ universe and bringing more thrilling action to our Amazon Prime Video audience.”

The author, who hasn’t been shy about his opinions about Tom Cruise’s previous attempts to make “Jack Reacher” a hit on the big screen, is obviously excited about the new series, and said, “It’s been great so far, but really, the fun starts here. By now I know these guys, and ‘Reacher’ is in the perfect hands, believe me.”

There’s still no word on when the series might hit Amazon Prime Video, but with all the buzz surrounding this show, there’s a high probability that “Jack Reacher” is a priority at the streaming service.
