Amber Heard Joins 'Magic Mike XXL' & Liam Neeson Hangs For Joss Whedon-Penned 'Suspension'

Machete Kills, If you’ve perused our feature, The Lost, Forgotten & Undersung Projects Of Joss Whedon, you might recall "Suspension." It was a script the Marvel guru wrote on spec and sold way, way back in 1993 for $1 million, and as such it feels like a relic of the time. It’s basically "Die Hard" on a bridge, with the story following Harry Monk, who is on his way back from spending 15 years in a New Jersey prison for shooting a cop, when he has to stop terrorists who have seized control of New York’s George Washington Bridge during a hellish traffic jam. And now it seems the movie has a star, someone who is no stranger to kicking the asses of bad dudes.

“I’ve just signed up to do a film called ‘Suspension,’ hanging from a bridge in New York – the George Washington Bridge,” Neeson told Empire. And that’s about all there is right now. There’s no official confirmation on whether it’s Whedon’s script or if it’s been rewritten (though two movies called "Suspension" set around the George Washington Bridge seems unlikely), who will direct, or if it’s at a studio. Though more news is likely right around the corner if Neeson is chatting about it.

Meanwhile, "Magic Mike XXL" continues to pad out the female side of the cast. Following Andie MacDowell and Jada Pinkett Smith jumping into the mix, The Wrap reports Amber Heard is now aboard. The actress joins the dude in the road trip sequel that will be directed by Greg Jacobs. No word yet on her role.
