Fresh off the news of a remake of "Starship Troopers" for no good reason, here comes another terrible idea.
Lionsgate has decided to make a new micro-budget (!) version of "American Psycho." Of course, you already know that Christian Bale starred in Mary Harron's controversial and awesome take on Bret Easton Ellis' satirical novel. So why on Earth on they doing this? Who knows. It's another catalog title we suppose Lionsgate can exploit, and the film didn't exactly burn down the box office the first time around (though it did make a small profit and likely kept on printing money on DVD and endless television repeats). But given that the studio likely expected more out of the title — their marketing campaign for the film included an online game "Make a Killing with American Psycho" which was pretty rare at the time — we suppose they'll just take another swing of the bat. There are all kinds of teenagers now who think a movie from 2000 is "old."
Some dude named Noble Jones — whose was as a second unit director on "The Social Network" and earned a Grammy nod for his documentary "10 Days Out: Blues From the Backroad" — is going to write the screenplay and direct. His shocking interpretation on the material will put Patrick Bateman in current day New York City. Wow! Looks like Patrick Bateman is getting a Twitter account. By the way, good luck to whoever tries to take on the role of Patrick Bateman. And oh yeah, this isn't the first time "American Psycho" has been taken down a questionable path. You might remember that a stage musical was attemped a couple years back with Duncan Sheik writing the music, but that didn't seem to go anywhere.
