Not J.J. Abrams’ “Super 8” as heavily speculated but rather the Bad Robot remake of Ronald F. Maxwell’s teen-comedy “Little Darlings,” according to Production Weekly.
The Paramount casting call targeting 13-14 year old Mid-Western teenagers has remained hush on what project it was casting for, leading many to hypothesize an association with Abrams’ just-as-secretive “Super 8,” a sci-fi throw back to 70’s Steven Spielberg films. However, the project in question is now reportedly just a remake of the 1980 Tatum O’Neal and Kristy McNichol-starrer which follows two teenage girls from different sides of the tracks competing to lose their virginity at camp.
Back to the drawing board for the theorists out there then? Or is Abrams simply using this as a facade for “Super 8?” Could he just be bluffing us? Or are we just over-analyzing everything? You win, J.J.
