There’s no CGI special effects, spandex outfits or blockbuster world-building in Andrew Garfield‘s next film "99 Homes," and we couldn’t be more pleased. "The Amazing Spider-Man" franchise hasn’t exactly been the best place for the actor to highlight the skills he showed in breakout projects like "Boy A" and "Red Riding," and with the movie around the corner, some intriguing new images have arrived.
Directed by Ramin Bahrani ("At Any Price," "Chop Shop") and co-starring Michael Shannon (already a reason to watch the film), the drama takes on the economic crisis and housing crash of the past six years, with a fairly novel premise. Here’s the official synopsis: After his family is evicted from their home, proud and desperate construction worker Dennis Nash tries to win his home back by striking a deal with the devil and working for Rick Carver, the corrupt real estate broker who evicted him.
"99 Homes" will premiere at the Venice Film Festival and also screen at TIFF. It’s also highly expected to play Telluride.
