Andrew Garfield may be playing Spider-Man/Peter Parker until the end of time, but that doesn’t mean he’ll isn’t willing to go back to the smaller fare he first became known for. THR is reporting that “The Social Network” actor is set to team up with “Man Push Cart” director Ramin Bahrani for his latest film.
First revealed in a touching interview with Roger Ebert before the critic’s passing, Bahrani’s “99 Homes” will tackle the financial crisis that the United States has found itself in over the past few years. “Set in sunny Orlando, Florida, it is about Dennis Nash, a man evicted from his home with his mom and son by Mike Carver, a power-hungry, gun-toting real estate broker, who works for the banks, Fannie and Freddie,” Bahrani explained earlier this year. “In a desperate attempt to get his home back, Dennis agrees to work for Mike—a deal with the devil that leads him deeper into the heart of the corrupt housing industry.”
Garfield would play Nash with production set to start later this year, once an actor for sleazy broker gets locked up. In the meantime, if you haven’t had the pleasure to watch any of Bahrani’s three films you can start with this year’s patchy but powerful “At Any Price.”
