Andy Serkis Lands Role In 'Avengers: Age Of Ultron'

nullAll it takes is one quote for fanboys to start adding up things that aren’t there. "The Imaginarium is the performance capture consultant, and I’m playing a role [in both ‘Star Wars: Episode 7‘ and ‘The Avengers: Age Of Ultron‘]. On ‘The Avengers,’ I’ve been working closely with Mark Ruffalo," Andy Serkis told Variety recently. "I’m not at liberty to mention [the role]. But it’s all the same to me. I’ve never drawn a distinction when playing a role, whether it be live action or performance capture. Acting is acting. It’s just basically what you wear to the set that’s different." And somehow from that, some sites start speculating that Serkis was playing The Hulk in Joss Whedon‘s super sequel or doing all the performance capture. Um, not quite.

HitFix has done some digging, and revealed a bit more about the part, so if you think Serkis is performance capturing everybody in ‘Ultron,’ guess again. According to Drew McWeeny, the actor is playing a single part, and it’s not any of the characters that have been announced thus far, nor is he doing performance capture work for James Spader‘s Ultron. Got it? Of course, any further details are being kept secret, but we’d bet some kind of dollars that the part will require him to wear a suit of latex and some ping pong balls, for computer graphics purposes.

Speculate away below. "The Avengers: Age Of Ultron" arrives on May 1, 2015.
