Prior to the release of “Annihilation,” the conversation surrounding the film was about the release strategy. Originally scheduled for a worldwide release from Paramount, the studio ended up selling the non-US and China distribution rights to Netflix. Sadly, instead of talking about the quality of the finished film, which is stellar by the way, all people cared about was the way it was distributed.
However, “Annihilation” is finally coming to home video and all the controversy that surrounded it is no longer an issue. Now, you can sit back in the comfort of your home and let filmmaker Alex Garland’s wonderful imagery flood over you, much like The Shimmer. And you can fully absorb the wonderful performances of the amazing cast of female actresses as they encounter some of the strangest monsters you’ll see all year.
