It looks like Hans Zimmer has some serious competition nipping at his heels. First it was revealed that the man behind the excellent music in the third domestic trailer for Christopher Nolan’s “Inception” wasn’t by Zimmer, but was by Zack Hemsey who did an excellent approximation of that composer’s style. Now, a reader has pointed out to us that the music in the very first teaser released way back in August of last year is actually not by Zimmer either.
Mike Zarin is the man behind the white noise-ish, atonal, one minute of music used to power the very first glimpse of Nolan’s existential heist thriller that first got us excited for the film. Zarin did the work for Sencit Music, a company that does custom music advertising, video games and film. Like Hemsey’s piece, it really does sound like something in Zimmer’s toolbox and reminded us of the opening of “Why So Serious?” from “The Dark Knight” soundtrack.
For those of you curious about what Zimmer has in store for the film, you can hit the official “Inception” website where some of his score is now streaming which, as we reported earlier today, features Johnny Marr on guitar. As for the film, while it’s still over a month away, there is still lots to talk about with a fresh international trailer with new footage and intriguing character posters hitting the web this week.
“Inception” opens on July 16th.
