Another New Thom Yorke Track Set For Docu-Drama, 'The Age Of Stupid'

Thom Yorke can’t seem to stop writing new songs these days.

As we wait for his contribution to the “New Moon” soundtrack to see the light of day, it looks like we’re in for a treat as Yorke has another new song up his sleeve.

The horribly titled “The Age Of Stupid” is a new docu-drama by director Franny Armstrong. Set in the year 2055, it follows a global archivist played by Pete Postlethwaite who looks back over archive footage of all the evidence of climate change everyone in the present day ignored. While the film sounds nauseatingly heavy-handed, it does have some pretty impressive plans for its “green carpet” debut on September 21st. The event will be shown nationally on 444 screens, and after the screening, a panel discussion with various politicians, scientists and celebrities including Kofi Annan and Gillian Anderson will take place, with Thom Yorke closing the evening with an acoustic performance of the title track.

In related news, word has leaked that Thom Yorke also has a new, two-song, limited 12″ single set to be released on September 22nd. The only details at this time are the song titles — “This Hollow Earth” and “Apart By Horses” — and that the release will have “really awesome packaging and artwork.” The release will be limited to 8000 copies worldwide, though it’s probably a safe bet a digital ordering option will be made available as well. No word yet if either of these tracks will also double as Yorke’s contribution to “New Moon” but given the writing streak he seems to be on, our guess is probably not. There are also no release details yet on Yorke’s “The Age Of Stupid” though we would imagine a digital option with proceeds going to an environmental group or charity is probably a safe guess.

And just in case you’ve missed some Radiohead news of late, they had two new songs drop in August. “Harry Patch (In Memory Of)” and “These Are My Twisted Words” made their way to hard drives everywhere and are still available via their website.
