When Antonio Banderas and Pedro Almodovar unveiled "The Skin I Live In" in 2011, it marked their first collaboration in over twenty years, in a film that was excitingly new territory for both director and actor. We wondered how long it would be before the duo paired up again, and thankfully, the wait will be shorter than two decades.
On the heels of news that Penelope Cruz would also be taking a role in Almodovar's next film "Standby Lovers," ABC and ScreenDaily clarify that it will only be a cameo role. And while that's a slight disappointment, the good news is that she will be joined by Banderas in the scene. Said to be a comedy in the vein of Almodovar's early films, plot details continue to get solidified as the production moves closer to its start date, with the story said to be an apocalyptic comedy set against a plane accident with various characters fearing for the lives, and confessing their inner secrets. Banderas and Cruz's scene will be shot in one day and also mark the first time the pair have been on screen together.
Faces new and old round out the cast with Guillermo Toledo , Raúl Arévalo, Hugo Silva, Cecilia Roth, Miguel Angel Silvestre, Blanca Suárez, José María Yazik and Antonio de la Torre all set to feature. Production gets underway this summer.
