DCEU fans, and fans of wet Jason Momoa in general, we have a treat for you! “Aquaman” is going to screen a full week early for members of Amazon Prime. It was recently announced that the superhero film starring the aforementioned Jason “My Man!” Momoa is coming to theaters on December 15, for an exclusive short run for Amazon Prime members. With your account, you can buy tickets to see the highly-anticipated superhero film earlier than all your friends. And then you can tell them just how beautiful Momoa and co-star Amber Heard are on the big screen fighting underwater.
“Bringing this epic origin story and the wondrous underwater world to the screen has been an amazing experience for the whole cast and crew, and I’m so excited for Prime members to be our first audience for ‘Aquaman,’” director James Wan said about the upcoming special.
Momoa hypes his film in a promotional video saying, “[Amazon Prime Members] have the opportunity to see ‘Aquaman’ aka the most badass movie of the year early!”
He later adds, in his most Momoa-iest way, “It’s a Prime Exclusive, baby.”
Plus, last week, Warner Bros. released a special behind-the-scenes video about the upcoming film. It features Momoa, Wan, and Heard talking about why they took on the film and what separates “Aquaman” from all the other superhero films, including the task of creating a whole different world under the sea.
“Aquaman” has some stiff competition at the box office next month, which is probably why WB is working so hard to build buzz for the film. Opening on December 21, the film is in direct competition with Disney’s “Mary Poppins Returns” and Paramount’s “Transformers” spin-off “Bumblebee, both opening that week. Not only that, the box office will already be stacked with an insane amount of films vying to capture all that holiday money.
No matter if the film is terrible or not, or if it makes a billion dollars or a hundred dollars, one thing is for sure — the folks making “Aquaman” are super proud of it, and their enthusiasm is pretty infectious.
