This is The Playlist equivalent of a geek rumor, so just bear with us. Granted, the pieces of evidence are a bit flimsy and who knows if it's all just a misunderstanding, but it's also too compelling to ignore. The short version is: Noah Baumbach and possibly Greta Gerwig may be shooting something on the campus at Barnard College. The long version is: they might not be.
The undergraduate The Blue And White blog have culled together the various clues starting with a tipster who claims to have met the director who was shooting in the English Department at the school. A bevy of filmmaking equipment has been seen around the campus as well, and apparently some kind of Ziploc bag has been spotted with the name Sam Levy — the cinematographer for Baumbach and Gerwig's low-budget, under-the-radar production "Frances Ha" that played at Telluride and TIFF this fall. And oh yeah, part of "Frances Ha" takes place at Barnard as well. As for Gerwig, her connection to the maybe-happening film is simply that she's formerly a student of Barnard and is dating Baumbach.
So put it all together and….well, decide for yourselves. Hey Barnard students, holla at us if you have any sightings or word. But hey, this is at least a bit more substantive than that Jason Flemyng "confirmation" of Matthew Vaughn directing "Star Wars: Episode 7," right?
