Ok, so this writer hasn’t watched “Glee” and is kind of bummed Jane Lynch left the awesome “Party Down” to do the show, but it can’t be denied that the Fox musical dramedy is positively huge. After one season, “Glee” has the kind of following most shows spend years trying to achieve and it may not be long until the show makes the leap to the big screen.
Apparently, in the contract series regulars signed when joining the show, there is an option for up to three movies. The legal mumbo jumbo reads: “[The actor] hereby grants Fox three exclusive, irrevocable options to engage [the actor] in up to, respectively, three feature length motion pictures.” So there you have it Gleeks, let the freaking out begin. And really, we could see this happening. “The Simpsons” successfully made the leap and after one or two more seasons, it’s not impossible that “Glee” could attain that kind of cultural relevancy that would allow for a silver screen jump.
If you’re in the same camp as this writer, and have somehow missed the “Glee” phenomenon, Fox is re-airing the first season of the show this summer so you have plenty of time to catch up with all the antics of Puck, Quinn and Rachel Berry.
