Well, he's back and Arnold Schwarzenegger continues to pile on the movie projects while old dudes blowing stuff up continues to be make money. He's got "The Expendables 2" coming this summer, "The Last Stand" and "The Tomb" looking set for 2013 and now he's tossing another movie on the slate.
Arnie will team with "Training Day" and "End Of Watch" helmer David Ayer for "Ten," a romantic comedy set the fast moving world of internet startups…..nah, who the fuck are we kidding? This is David Ayer, and of course, the story will center on an elite DEA task force who rob a drug cartel safe house, only find each member of the team starts getting taken down one by one. The script was penned by Skip Woods ( "Hitman," "X-Men Origins: The Wolverine," "The A-Team") so proceed with caution. Frankly, this sounds like any number of generic straight-to-DVD actioners, but we hope there's something more to it. Maybe not.
At one point this was going to be a vehicle for Bruce Willis with Patrick Alessandrin ("District 13: Ultimatum") behind the camera, so yeah, seems like a comparable swap out of talent. The flim has financing locked up by QED International and distribution set up by Open Road, so we presume this will roll next for Arnie. Better than an aging Terminator we suppose…. [THR]
