Arnold Schwarzenegger To Star In A New Spy Series From 'Scorpion' Creator

Arnold Schwarzenegger is heading to TV for the first time ever. Well, the first time since he hosted “Celebrity Apprentice,” but that was a dark time that we’re going to pretend never happened. Okay? Great!

According to Deadline, Schwarzenegger has signed on to produce and star in a new action series that will eventually make its way to an unnamed streaming platform courtesy of Skydance TV. The untitled series comes from creator Nick Santora and follows the story of a father/daughter spy duo, with Schwarzenegger obviously playing the dad. Casting apparently is underway for the role of his daughter, though no names have been mentioned.

Schwarzenegger has been pretty busy the past several years on the big screen. His most recent role was in last year’s failed “Terminator” reboot-quel, ‘Dark Fate.’ Though the film wasn’t a huge failure with critics, the film was far from a box office success. He’s also appeared in recent features such as “Maggie,” “Aftermath,” and “Killing Gunther.” His next role is expected to be in the upcoming “Kung Fury II: The Movie.”

Santora is no stranger to TV. In fact, he’s one of the most prolific television producers working today. Most recently, he’s served as the showrunner for the Quibi series, “Most Dangerous Game” and “The Fugitive.” Previously, he was responsible for creating shows like “Scorpion” and “Breakout Kings,” as well as working on series such as “Prison Break,” “The Sopranos,” “Law & Order,” “The Guardian,” and “Lie to Me.” Santora is currently attached to produce and showrun the upcoming “Jack Reacher” series that is in development.

It’s unclear when the new Scharwenegger-led spy series will arrive on a streaming platform, but with the actor and Santora attached, there’s likely going to be plenty of interest in this show.
