It’s been a while since we’ve heard Ron Howard‘s voice say, “On the next ‘Arrested Development…'” But now the wait is over. We haven’t had any new episodes of “Arrested Development” on Netflix since 2013. No worries, though. There is still money in the banana stand. For a while, we weren’t even sure we’d be getting new episodes. With recent allegations concerning misconduct of actor Jeffrey Tambor, things kind of seemed up in the air. Now that we have the trailer, we can look forward to more tomfoolery of the like from the Bluth clan.
Fans weren’t exactly taken with the fourth season of the show. Actually, fans weren’t really fans of it at all. The shenanigans of the Bluth family was widely regarded as one of the best comedies on TV. So in the spirit of revisiting and remaking, Netflix revived the series for the fourth season in 2013. Due to a lot of unforeseen circumstances (mainly behind the scenes), season four fell flat. But creator Mitch Hurwitz wants to set things right. The first step this was the release of the season four remix. Fine tuning season four to have the same feeling the original episodes had. Instead of having a hodgepodge of circumstances intertwining.
The original version of season four of “Arrested Development” was set aside to make room for the remixed version. The remix looked to be a more apt representation of the show. While it didn’t solve many problems, it definitely gave the feeling that Hurwitz and Netflix wanted to prepare fans for season five.
Now that Hurwitz has redeemed himself, season five looks like it will be making a triumphant return to Netflix, when the series returns May 29.
Here’s the official synopsis:
In the aftermath of Cinco de Quatro, the Bluth family are all facing one question, that no one quite has the answer to; where is Lucille Two? As this Netflix (semi) original series returns on May 29th, the Bluths are back together, and finally getting the award they think they deserve – for family of the year. A development which will help Lindsay as she begins her campaign for Congress, to become ‘part of the problem’. But whatever happens, Michael will always come back to save the family. Probably.
