The last time Asa Butterfield went to space, the result was the less than impressive “Ender’s Game.” But the actor is going to give sci-fi another whirl this summer with “The Space Between Us,” and the first trailer is now orbiting the internet.
Directed by Peter Chesolm (“Shall We Dance,” “Hector And The Search For Happiness“), and also featuring Britt Robertson and Gary Oldman, the story centers on a teenager born on a Mars colony, who seeks out his birth father, and strikes up a friendship with a girl in Colorado.
“Ultimately, it’s all about [his character] Gardner finding his humanity and what it means to be human, through quite literally experiencing Earth for the first time,” the actor added.
“The Space Between Us” opens on August 19th. Watch the trailer above.
