Appropriately timed for the first phase of Emmy voting, the prestigious Television Critics Association announced its nominees for the 2017 TCA Awards, which featured a strong showing by both FX‘s “Atlanta” and Hulu‘s “The Handmaid’s Tale,” as they walked away with the most nominations.
Both series received four nods, including respective nominations for Outstanding New Program and Program of the Year. Other nominees in the latter category included “Big Little Lies,” “Stranger Things,” “The Leftovers,” and “This Is Us.”
The TCA members spread the wealth this year, with notable programs such as “Feud: Bette and Joan,” “Fargo,” “Veep,” and “Master of None” all earning multiple nominations. Surprising omissions included “Transparent,” “Westworld,” “American Crime,” “Search Party,” “Legion,” “American Gods,” and “The Good Fight.”
