Baz Luhrmann’s outback epic “Australia,” starring natives Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman has been selected to close Sweden’s Stockholm Film Festival which runs Nov. 20-30, and which is fine and dandy and all, but why isn’t it on the rest of the film fest circuit?
Is it not that ready yet and the end of November (after its released stateside). Was it pushed back to Nov 26 in the U.S. because of the ‘Harry Potter’ ripple effect? Or was it simply because there’s more tweaking to be done? We’re not trying to start shit, we’re seriously curious and childlike cause…
Dammit, we want this film and we want it now. Since we’ve seen a lot already, our most anticipated films of the fall are probably, “Australia,” “Milk” and “The Road” (not counting “Che” and “The Wrestler” cause they’re technically not scheduled yet). Baz is totally underrated. The fanboys prolly let their hair down for things like “Moulin Rouge,” only because the kinetic swirling guns of “Romeo & Juliet” pre-approved it, but “Strictly Ballroom,” is seriously so good.
