'Avengers' Roundup: Adam Warlock Almost In 'Infinity War' And Chris Evans Might Not Be Done With The MCU Yet

Since Marvel Studios continues to dominate entertainment news for the next few days, we are going to keep collecting all the Marvel Cinematic Universe news fit-to-print in one handy-dandy article for your perusal. Enjoy!

You would think that “Avengers: Infinity War” already has plenty of characters. With something like 65 characters, it’s amazing the film isn’t 5 hours long. However, writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus were interested in adding yet another Marvel superhero to the fold – Adam Warlock.

Unfortunately, introducing a character like Adam Warlock isn’t just a simple endeavor, and that’s what ultimately meant his exclusion.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Markus said, “We didn’t introduce Adam Warlock, because it’s a massive backbend and you practically have to make an Adam Warlock movie to introduce him. He just can’t walk onscreen. So, there was a brief moment where we were like, Ehhh…, and then we were like– [He points to the movie’s poster.] We have that many characters already! And then there were others we couldn’t use. Like, Silver Surfer would have been useful, but we can’t touch him. Currently.”

Almost worse than the Ben Affleck “will he or won’t he” about his role as Batman is the “will he or won’t he” conversation about Chris Evans retiring as Captain America. It seems like we know more about Evans’ contract with Marvel Studios than we ought to and because of that, all anyone wants to know is if he’ll return after the next two ‘Avengers’ films.

In one interview, he says he’s definitely done. But now, not so much. Well, if the opportunity is too good to pass up. In an interview with Variety, he says, “Part of you almost kind of thinks: Well, if we end on the right note… and I think it really kind of does. The scripts they have are really beautiful and really well written.”

He continues, “It’s really sweet and lovely and just special, and everyone really has a nice tight plot and story arc. Part of you almost doesn’t want to mess that up. … I guess it depends. It’s hard to know where your head’s gonna be at in a few years.”

So, we might see more Cap in the future? That is, if he survives…

One person we know is going to stick around for a few years is Brie Larson as Captain Marvel. With her solo film, aptly titled “Captain Marvel,” on the horizon (March 2019) and filming currently happening, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is opening up about the film, specifically what the ‘90s setting means for the franchise.

“In the ’90s there were things called video stores,” he explained to Variety. “You could go into video stores and you could pick up VHSs and decide what movies you wanted to go see. I miss that. That was fun. We’re doing certain sets that look like that and it’s fun to be back in that era because I’m old.”

Feige explained that the ‘90s-era provides something unique to the superhero origin story, which is crucial when you have a unique character like Captain Marvel, “You’re going to get the most powerful superhero that we’ve ever introduced with, I think, one of the most unique and inspiring origin stories.”

Nick Fury, one of the legendary characters from the MCU’s beginning, is returning in “Captain Marvel,” and according to Feige, the film will follow the character who “thought the Cold War is over [so] the best days are behind him. He encounters certain things in this movie. It sets him on that path that leads us to where we are 19 films later.”

The ‘Infinity War’ directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, are utilizing their Twitter feed to underscore the importance of the upcoming film. Yesterday, the Russos decided to completely wipe clean their Twitter and post an ominous video that says, “Thanos is coming.”

And finally, we present a Marvel Studios video that isn’t a new clip from the film. No, the various actors from ‘Infinity War’ got together to make a PSA about the new slogan “#ThanosDemandsYourSilence,” which encourages fans to just shut up about spoilers and not ruin the fun for others.
