There's no such thing as Comic-Con without Sylvester Stallone and "The Expendables," right? So naturally, Lionsgate will be rolling out footage from "The Expendables 2" in San Diego this week — on Thursday to be precise. Co-starring a bunch of olds like Dolph Lundgren, Jean Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis (three of whom will be eligible for social security by the time the picture hits) and less geriatric action stars like Jason Statham, Jet Li, Yu Nan, Terry Crews, Randy Couture and Liam Hemsworth, on the eve of SDCC, Lionsgate has released an old-school poster that looks as if it was designed by the same dude who conceived of the artwork for the 1986 Stallone actioner "Cobra." That is to say it's vintage-y and '80s; the era when action heroes actually mattered.
Arguably this cast is getting a second wind with "The Expendables" franchise, which has performed fairly well at the box-office despite the advanced age of its stars: Stallone (66), Schwarzenegger (64), Norris (72), Lundgren (54), Willis (57) and JVCD (51). The eleven leading men in the sequel have a combined age of 569 (and an average age of 52), but by the time the movie comes out August 17th, it will be 573. Let's hope they live long enough to rock the crowd at San Diego with those pecs. [IMPA]
