Cory Finley’s newest film “Bad Education” has just dropped a new teaser. The movie tells the story of a school-larceny scandal that hit Long Island in the early 2000s. Hugh Jackman leads the film, along with Allison Janney and Ray Romano.

This is Finley’s follow up film to his directorial debut, “Thoroughbreds.” His previous film was received well by critics, so we’re left to wonder if “Bad Education” will follow suit, or Finley will fall victim to the infamous sophomore slump. Finley didn’t write the script as he did with “Thoroughbreds.” Mike Makowsky is the writer, who based the film on his real experiences in high school. As we previously reported, the script is already receiving comparisons the Academy Award-nominated 1999 film “Election.” And as we are fast approaching festival season, we are sensing an Oscar push for this film. Some are even anticipating a best actor nomination for Jackman as well.
Alex Wolff (“Hereditary”), Geraldine Viswanathan (“Blockers”), and Annaleigh Ashford (“Masters of Sex”) can also be seen in the upcoming film.
Here’s the synopsis:
Long Island school superintendent Frank Tassone (Hugh Jackman) and his assistant superintendent for business, Pam Gluckin (Academy Award winner Allison Janney), are credited with bringing Roslyn School District unprecedented prestige. Frank, always immaculately groomed and tailored, is a master of positive messaging, whether before an audience of community leaders or in an office with a concerned student or parent. In short, it seems Frank can do no wrong. That is, until a plucky student reporter (Geraldine Viswanathan) decides to dig deep into some expense reports and begins to uncover an embezzlement scheme of epic proportions, prompting Frank to devise an elaborate cover-up — by any means necessary.
