With the release date for Robert Rodriguez’s “Grindhouse” trailer spin-off “Machete” drawing ever closer, six pretty badass new character posters have arrived online for our viewing pleasure. They feature Danny Trejo’s eponymous Machete, Bobby De Niro as The Senator, Don Johnson as Lt. Stillman, Steven Segal as Torrez, Michelle Rodriguez as She and Jessica Alba as Sartana. No sign of the character posters for Jeff Fahey and Cheech Marin as Michael Benz and Padre respectively, but there is a one of Lindsay Lohan as The Sister floating around, though it doesn’t seem to be official, as its missing the film’s title and logo.
We’re hoping that “Machete” will turn out to be everything that it promises to be, a balls to the wall romp that’s a boat load of fun. After the last flick to emerge from Troublemaker Studios, “Predators”, received a solid but unspectacular reception, here’s hoping that this Rodriguez penned and directed effort will really hit the top gear. We’re loving that Danny Trejo is getting to headline a major Hollywood release, that De Niro’s turning up in what could be a decent film for once, and that Jessica Alba seems to be slowly steering her career back on course in 2010. We do hope though, that for her sake, Lindsay Lohan has a permit for that fire arm. We wouldn’t want her extending her summer holiday now would we.
