I still don’t quite get the passionate calls for “Justice For Barb” as season two of “Stranger Things” approaches, but the show’s creators Matt and Ross Duffer have wisely ignored the lure of fan service, and made it clear that Shannon Purser won’t be reviving her (dead) character. That said, Barb’s absence will be felt, as David Harbour (aka cop Jim Hopper) revealed during the Fan2Sea Comic Con cruise (geez, they really hold Comic Con events everywhere, don’t they?).
“The question and the feelings that Nancy has that no one ever cares about her friend Barb, are very much present in the beginning of the season,” he said.
And that approach of having Nancy finally mourn her friend after the chaos that unfolded across last season, makes a lot of sense, and seems an appropriate way to deal with Barb’s passing.

As for what else we can expect, Harbour couldn’t say much beyond what we already know about the setting of the second season.
“It’s a year later in the story, so there are several things that happened last year — like Will has come back — there are certain people in the town that know what happened, and then certain people that don’t know what happened,” he said. “So there’s a lot of fall out with who knows what.”
Harbour also added that Sean Astin is playing Winona Ryder’s new boyfriend, which keeps us from the Hopper/Joyce romance we all want.
