Barry Levinson Will Be Growing Up With 'Gotti: Three Generations'

With Nick Cassavetes vacating the director’s chair, a chill went through Hollywood as everybody from studio executives to janitors wondered who would come to man the ship on the gangster story that must be told. Well, everyone will sleep easier tonight as a replacement has been found.

Variety reports that Barry Levinson is in negotiations to take over “Gotti: Three Generations.” As the title implies, the film will take a look at the notorious Gotti crime family from the perspective of John Gotti Jr. (who was the one who sold and set up the picture). John Travolta will play John Gotti Sr., with Joe Pesci lined up as Angelo Ruggiero, a high-ranking member of the Gambino crime family and close friend. Everyone’s favorite hot mess Lindsay Lohan will play the daughter-in-law, Kim.

But this one is a bit of a while off yet. Travolta will spend the summer shooting Oliver Stone‘s “Savages” while Lohan hopes to clear her table of any remaining legal woes. We’re guessing a fall shoot is looking likely on this. But Barry Levinson fans, not to worry. The director’s low budget horror thingy “The Bay” is one the way, probably around Halloween time.
