'On The Basis Of Sex' Trailer: Director Mimi Leder & Felicity Jones Bring Ruth Bader Ginsburg's Life To The Big Screen

Ruth Bader Ginsburg is perhaps more popular today than at any other point in her long, illustrious career. The Supreme Court justice has become a folk hero (some might say superhero) in the fight for equal rights and it would seem that now is the perfect time for a proper biopic to be released such as “On the Basis of Sex.”

And right from the very beginning of the new trailer, you can see exactly what “On the Basis of Sex” is attempting to do. Ginsburg, as played by Oscar-nominated actress Felicity Jones, is shown to be a tough-as-nails law student, as she fights throughout her career for equal rights among men and women. The film shows that RBG had numerous obstacles in her way as she rose to prominence during the ‘70s and ‘80s.

“On the Basis of Sex” is directed by Mimi Leder, who is probably best known for her work on the 1998 disaster film “Deep Impact” and the 2000 drama “Pay it Forward.” However, most recently, she’s been working on the TV side of the entertainment industry, directing episodes of “Shameless,” “The Leftovers,” and the upcoming highly-anticipated Apple series “The Morning Show,” starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon.

“On the Basis of Sex” hits theaters on December 25.

Here’s the synopsis for the film:
