FX’s “Baskets,” one of the most bizarre dramedies ever to have been shown on television, will return for a fourth season. Created by Jonathan Krisel, Zach Galifianakis, and comedian Louis C.K., “Baskets” has occupied a unique place in television by walking a tightrope between absurdly funny and heartbreakingly sincere. While this off-beat dramedy is not for everyone, Galifianakis show has gained recognition for its strong performances, deadpan humor, and blend of sadness and comedy, all of which will continue in the upcoming fourth season.

The new season will feature the core cast from previous seasons, including failed/aspiring clown Chip Baskets (played by Galifianakis), his twin brother Dale (also played by Galifianakis), insurance agent Martha Brooks (played by Martha Kelly), and featuring Louie Anderson in the Emmy-award winning role as Chip’s mother Christine. Krisel and Galifianakis will continue to be the leading creative minds behind the series, though FX cut all ties with C.K. following his admission to numerous sexual misconduct allegations.

The upcoming season will continue to revolve around the tragic efforts of the Baskets family trying to seek happiness in a challenging world, yet things are changing for Chip. These changes will include Chip receiving some transformational advice from a life coach and finally moving out of his mother’s house, which may end up having more than its fair share of ups and downs (as with everything in the “Baskets” world, the good comes hand-in-hand with the bad). As for Christine, she looks toward moving further in her relationship with Ken (played by Alex Morris), while Dale seems to be changing things up in his RV park following his relational misfortune at the end of the last season.
However, with all of these changes, one thing is for sure – the cast and producers of “Baskets” are not finished clowning around.
Return to the rodeo with season 4 of “Baskets” on Thursday, June 13.
