'Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice' R-Rated Ultimate Cut Sets Summer Release Date

Batman V Superman dawn of justiceWith "Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice" on its way to hitting $500 million worldwide sometime this week, it still needs to earn $800 million to be a break even for Warner Bros., and $1 billion to be considered profitable. So there’s still quite a road to go down. However, it’s not just theatrical revenue the studio will be banking on as they add up the numbers on the movie. There’s also the much publicized R-rated "Ultimate Cut" that’s coming, and a release date has now been set.

Forbes reveals ‘Dawn Of Justice’ will be available in the format of your choice on July 16th. And while the site teases that the movie might feature some "brief nudity," that’s not the case. Snyder has already stated quite clearly "there’s no nudity," but rather, some more moments of intense action, and deleted scenes, including the restored role of Jena Malone who was cut from the theatrical version, and a longer North Africa sequence, with the entire runtime about a half hour longer than what you saw in cinemas.

And the home video release could be a nice padding to the bottom line of ‘Dawn Of Justice’ for Warner Bros. "Watchmen" scored nearly $100 million in home video sales, while "The Dark Knight" and "The Dark Knight Rises" did massive numbers, $315 million and $250 million respectively. Of course, home video sales have plummeted across the industry in the years since but WB will probably be happy with "Watchmen" type numbers once ‘Dawn Of Justice’ hits store shelves.
