October is a time for chills, thrills, and slashers. However, over at Netflix, late-October is also the time for lovely British musical romance films, such as the delightful “Been So Long.”
In the new trailer for the film, which hits the streaming service right in the heart of the Halloween season, we meet a young single mother, played by Michaela Coel (“Chewing Gum”), who is just trying to raise her daughter right and avoid any sort of romance. That all changes when she meets a mysterious man in a bar and she’s immediately smitten. However, the man has a bit of a troubled past.
Oh yeah, and there’s just a ton of music. The trailer does a great job of showing that this seemingly typical romantic comedy film is anything but. Bright colors, elaborate dance sequences, and beautiful music make “Been So Long” a film that isn’t your typical rom-com.
Joining Coel in the film are Arinzé Kene, George Mackay, Ronke Adekoluejo, Ashley Thomas, Joe Dempsie, Luke Norris, Rakie Ayola, and Mya Lewis. “Been So Long” is based on the hit musical of the same name and is written by Ché Walker and directed by Tinge Krishnan, who most recently directed an episode of “The Exorcist” TV series. So yeah, a bit of a Halloween connection, right?
“Been So Long” will hit Netflix on October 26.
