Bella Heathcote Joins 'Twylight Zones' & 'Cogan's Trade' With Brad Pitt

Newcomer Bella Heathcote is having a good week. Less than a day after it was revealed that the actress was among the frontrunners to land the plum, titular role in “Snow White & The Huntsman” (more on that in a second) now comes word that she will be appearing in two very high-profile upcoming projects.

Deadline reports that Heathcote has signed on for the female lead in David Chase‘s first post-“The Sopranos” project “The Twylight Zones.” She joins John Magaro, Will Brill and Jack Huston in the film about a group of suburban New Jersey teenagers making their way in the ’60s as a band called The Twylight Zones. With this film set to go in front of cameras in February we presume this now means Heathcote is out of the running for “Snow White & The Huntsman” which is slated for a first half of 2011 shoot. A bit of a bummer for any young actress on the rise but she’ll be able to console herself on Brad Pitt‘s shoulder.

Buried a little further down in Deadline’s report, they reveal that Heathcote has also signed on to Andrew Dominik‘s crime caper “Cogan’s Trade.” The project, first announced last month, is based on the George V. Higgins novel and is set to star Brad Pitt in a story about an enforcer in the Boston mob tasked with finding the perpetrators of the robbery of a high-stakes card game. An array of heavyweight talent is already circling the supporting male role in the film with Casey Affleck, Sam Rockwell, Mark Ruffalo and Javier Bardem being mentioned as those in the mix of contenders. Heathcote will also appear in Andrew Niccol‘s upcoming sci-fi pic “Now” with Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried.

Heathcote was this year’s winner of the Heath Ledger Scholarship, set up by the late star’s family to give young Australian actors a chance at succeeding at Hollywood and it looks like that win is paying off huge. She’s a talent we’ll definitely be keeping an eye on.
