Jon Hamm And Rebecca Hall Join Ben Affleck's 'The Town,' Shooting To Begin In August

Jon Hamm and Rebecca Hall are set to star in Ben Affleck’s sophomore directorial effort “The Town” which will also find Affleck in the lead role.

Affleck will play a bank robber who becomes romantically involved with a teller, played by Hall. Complications arise as he is drawn away from his criminal path by the relationship whilst an FBI agent, played by Hamm, becomes infatuated with the teller whilst presumably also on the tail of the bank robber.

Based on the novel “Prince Of Thieves” by Chuck Hogan, the film is scribed by Hogan himself and Peter Craig as well as featuring a rewrite by Affleck. The director previously revealed that the film will follow a “group of guys who rob a bank and an armored car” in a town where “there are more armed robbers per capita than anywhere else in the world” and will delve in great detail into the lives, relationships and hometown of the group of thieves.

We also relished the possibility of Affleck bringing on board the likes of his brother, Casey Affleck, and Matt Damon though the two actor’s busy slate makes this feel more than a little implausible (though maybe young Casey could squeak it through, he’s probably finished shooting Michael Winterbottom’s “The Killer Inside Me”).

“The Town” will be Affleck’s follow up to 2007’s “Gone Baby Gone” and is set to begin filming as soon as August 31st in Charlestown, MA where the film’s story is actually set. [Variety]
