Ben Kingsley Will Play 'Ender's Game' With 'Hugo' Co-Star Asa Butterfield

nullWorking with a young actor isn't always the easiest thing for established thesps like Ben Kingsley. Younger talent sometimes need more attention, and patience on set, as they are still cultivating the craft that veterans have honed into a finely turned art. But it seems that Kingsley got along smashingly with Asa Butterfield on the set of "Hugo," as he's now lined up a project to work with him again.

THR reveals that Kingsley will join the young actor in "Ender's Game" that features another rising young thesp in "True Grit" star Hailee Steinfeld. Powerhouse producing duo of Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are behind the project, telling novelist Orson Scott Card's classic tale that's set in the future, when Earth is at war with an insectoid race named the Formics, and follows Ender, one of a group of children being trained to be military commanders. Kingsley will take on the role of a war hero long thought dead, but he's not the only older actor being sought for the picture. Producers are also looking at someone to play Colonel Hyrum Graff, the Commander of Training for the International Fleet, with Harrison Ford recently listed as being among the actors in the mix.

Still lots to come but this one building up a pretty great cast. Lensing is slated to begin in February with Gavin Hood at the helm.
