Ben Mendelsohn Reteams With Ryan Gosling For 'How To Catch A Monster'

nullThanks to his chilling turn in 2010’s “Animal Kingdom,” Australian actor Ben Mendelsohn landed on the radar of some talented folks and has appeared in films like “The Dark Knight Rises,” the upcoming Andrew Dominik-helmed “Killing Them Softly” and next year’s “The Place Beyond the Pines.” Now, according to Movie Hole, Mendelsohn’s set to act under the direction of his 'Pines' co-star Ryan Gosling for the latter's directorial debut “How To Catch A Monster.”

Described as a “fantasy noir fairy-tale,” Gosling’s film — which he also wrote — stars Christina Hendricks as Billy, a single mother of two who works in a fetish club of some kind, who is swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld while her teenage son discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town. There isn’t much known about the fantasy project other than Gosling isn’t taking things lightly and that he “already has storyboards and pictures of neighborhoods and homes, and he’s already collecting music for it.”

Given the scarcity of details, it should come as no surprise that no one knows exactly who or what Mendelsohn will be playing. Could he have something to do with the predicament Hendricks gets into while working at a fetish club? Whatever he ends up doing, we’re excited about whatever the final product will be. Filming begins in May.
