One of the most underrated series in the FX lineup over the past several years is “Better Things.” Written, directed, produced by Pamela Adlon, the series has consistently been great and has sadly been overshadowed by some of the more headline-grabbing series that the network has released.

The story of “Better Things” follows a woman clearly going through her mid-life crisis, played perfectly by Adlon, who is raising her three daughters, Max (Mikey Madison), Frankie (Hannah Alligood) and Duke (Olivia Edward), while also trying to find a life of her own that doesn’t revolve around family obligations and drama. And in the new trailer, it appears that she begins to find herself thanks to a ridiculous new car (that’s terrible for the environment) and maybe even some time on a dating app.

FX boss John Landgraf talked up “Better Things” quite a bit when the network announced work on the fourth season, “With every season, ‘Better Things’ becomes more vital, engaging and revelatory, cementing Pamela Adlon’s status as one of the most accomplished creative forces in television today. Rarely has there been a show that is so personal and, at the same time, so thoroughly universal in the way it explores modern parenting, family and life. We are thrilled to extend the series for a fourth season and to continue this incredible partnership with Pamela, her creative team and the amazing cast of ‘Better Things.’”
“Better Things” returns to FX on March 5.
