R&B pop superstar Beyoncé Knowles wants to play Wonder Woman something fierce. Apparently she’s even met with D.C. and Warner Bros. executives to express here interest.
“I want to do a superhero movie and what would be better than Wonder Woman?,” she posited to the L.A. Times blog hero worship. “It would be great. And it would be a very bold choice. A black Wonder Woman would be a powerful thing. It’s time for that, right?”
We’re all for a black woman as Wonder Woman, a black man as president, hell, it’s all good. But Knowles? Not our favorite actress by a long shot, next. She’s never proven that she can really act outside of being ok in “Dreamgirls.”
Beyonce goes on and on about it. “I would definitely have to keep it right for that costume. The way that Lynda Carter wore it, she was sooo fine. She was amazing. I saw her costume at the Met. Her waist was unbelievable. It was pretty crazy, actually, her proportions. But I love Wonder Woman and it’d be a dream come true to be that character. It sure would be handy to have that lasso. To make everybody tell the truth? I need that. It would come in very handy.”
D.C. has struggled to get a Wonder Woman franchise off the ground and Joss Whedon at one point took a pass, but the studios were never really feeling his version. Whatever, please don’t cast her. The end [ed. this photoshop is kind of pitiful, we know].
