Recently, Sony Pictures presented a new clip from the highly-anticipated film, “Ghostbusters: Afterlife.” While the trailer that was released a while back seemed to elicit strong nostalgic sentiment from the very opinionated (some might call “toxic”) “Ghostbusters” fanbase, the clip featuring mini versions of the Stay Puft marshmallow man didn’t necessarily generate the same sort of excitement. But according to Bill Murray and “Ghostbusters” director Ivan Reitman, the clip is a good indication of what you might see in ‘Afterlife.’
Reaction videos are all the rage on social media. People love watching other people watch things. And in the case of “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” the studio thought it would be a good idea to have Bill Murray, who appears in the film, and Ivan Reitman, who directed the original feature, react to the aforementioned scene.
The clip features Paul Rudd’s character walking through a grocery store when he notices some mini-marshmallows have come to life and are causing all sorts of mischief in the aisles. It’s a clip that shocked fans who were hoping for a bit more of an adult style of humor that was largely present in the original films. Instead, it feels a bit like the Baby Yoda-ification of “Ghostbusters,” clearly there to help sell toys and other merchandise.
But, hey, that’s just one clip, right? You definitely can’t judge an entire film off of a 30-second clip. Well, while it’s definitely premature to come to a conclusion about “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” considering the film is months away from release, Murray and Reitman want you to know that the mini-Pufts scene is a good indicator for “the feel” of the final feature.
“That’s funny…That looks good. That’s got the feel, doesn’t it?” said Murray.
Reitman replied, “Yeah, exactly.”

Now, whether that excites you or terrifies you depends on your feelings regarding the clip. But for those wondering what type of film “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” is going to be, perhaps the clip is a better indication than the actual trailer? We’ll just have to wait and see on November 10, when the film hits theaters.
