Over the weekend, Amazon unleashed a wave of trailers for their upcoming slate of shows, and while it has taken a couple of years, it really looks like the streaming service is going to give Netflix serious competition beyond their already acclaimed “Transparent.” One more show aiming to make some noise is “Goliath” which has skipped the usual pilot process at Amazon and gone straight to series.

Starring Billy Bob Thornton, Maria Bello, and William Hurt, and from veteran executive producer David E. Kelly (“Ally McBeal,” “The Practice“), the series will track one case as it unfolds between a small time lawyer and an Aerospace company with serious legal talent at their disposal.
“When we were doing ‘The Practice’ the litigators were the heroes,” Kelley said at the Television Critics Association (via USA Today). “[But now] law firms have become big corporate giants; cases never get to trial. What this show is about is one down and out lone-wolf warrior, knowing he doesn’t have the resources… and clinging to the notion that if he can just get there in front of 12 other people, democracy does have a chance.”
“Goliath” debuts on Amazon on October 14th.
