The trailer gives viewers the basics – there’s a young woman, who is attempting to find out the truth about her past. As a child, she escaped a war-torn Rwanda and was adopted by a white family in England. Now, years later, she hopes to go back to where she was born and try to figure out how she was able to survive a genocide. And along the way, she runs into a government official, as well as a slew of shady folks, who might have clues to the real reason she was able to escape her tragic past.
“Black Earth Rising” comes from writer-director Hugo Blick. The filmmaker is probably most known for his work on the Golden Globe and Peabody Award-winning 2014 series “The Honourable Woman.”
