Much like the previous trailers for “Black Widow,” the new clip just shows more of what you’ve come to expect from the film. There’s Scarlett Johansson, without the help of her Avengers cohorts, diving deep into her past to help save the world. And she’s enlisting the help of her pseudo-family, Florence Pugh, Rachel Weisz, and David Harbour. As the first film that really kicks off Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “Black Widow” also showcases the studio’s recent pledge to do more in terms of inclusivity and diversity. Marking only the second solo female superhero film, after “Captain Marvel,” Johansson is finally getting a chance to shine thanks to director Cate Shortland. Unfortunately for fans of the Black Widow character, this prequel is a bit of a bittersweet moment, not only beginning her solo franchise but effectively ending it, as well, considering we know what happens to Natasha Romanoff during the events of “Avengers: Endgame.”
“Black Widow” arrives in theaters on May 1. You can watch the Super Bowl ad below.
