'Blade Runner 2049': See The Future With Jared Leto

“Humanity can not survive. Replicants are the future of the species. But I can only make so many,” Jared Leto says in the trailer for “Blade Runner 2049.” Indeed, the sci-fi film — and now franchise — cuts to the heart of what it means to be human, and the actor’s character Niander Wallace could be the key to unlocking those themes. As the man heading up the replicant building  Tyrell Corporation, he’s heavily invested in seeing his machines proliferate and evolve, but at what cost?

A new promo for the film perhaps provides a clue. The short film takes us further into the world that Denis Villeneuve is building with his cast. Here’s the official synopsis:

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K, unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard, a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

Starring Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri, Lennie James, Dave Bautista and Jared Leto, “Blade Runner 2049” opens on October 6th. [Collider]
