When it was first announced that the upcoming "Blade Runner" sequel would be arriving in January 2018 it seemed a bit…odd. January is generally viewed as a dumping ground month for movies studios don’t have much faith in, or know won’t be critically lauded, hoping to earn some extra cash in the quieter moviegoing month, where they might get slaughtered elsewhere on the calendar. But it seems Warner Bros. has changed up their plans for "Blade Runner 2," and it’s going to be coming sooner than first thought.
The film has now be released on October 6, 2017, opening against an untitled event movie from Fox. Remember earlier this month when WB added an untitled "event film" to that date? Well, now we know what it is. Denis Villeneuve will direct the movie starring Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright and Dave Bautista, with a script by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, and lensing from cinematographer Roger Deakins. Of course, plot details are under wraps.
Production starts in July.
