Blood-Soaked First Image From Eli Roth's Cannibal Movie 'The Green Inferno'

nullOkay, so he's not exactly Terrence Malick or Lynne Ramsay, but it's been six years since Eli Roth's last feature-length effort, "Hostel: Part II." And while he's been busy executive producing a handful of movies, putting his stamp on Netflix's upcoming "Hemlock Grove" and helming the "Nation's Pride" short for "Inglourious Basterds," he's back behind the camera and bringing the blood.

The first image from Roth's next directorial effort "The Green Inferno" has landed, and it's not going to disappoint fans. Starring a mostly no-name cast inlcuding Lorenza Izzo and Ariel Levy (who both feature in the upcoming "Aftershock" produced by and starring Roth), Daryl Sabara and Kirby Bliss Blanton ("Project X") this one boasts a pretty intriguing logline: A group of student activists from New York City travel to the Amazon to protect a dying tribe, but crash in the jungle and are taken hostage by the very natives they saved.

The film was shot in Peru and Chile, with Roth using native Peruvians as extras, so this should be an interesting venture for the horror helmer. There's no distributor or release date yet, but this tease will likely start the phones ringing.
