'Bombshell' Trailer: Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman & Margot Robbie Are The Women In The Roger Ailes/Fox News Harassment Scandal

Given how Fox News dominates the airwaves as the mouthpiece for the right and President Trump, it’s not surprising how Fox and its propaganda fascinates us all. But “Bombshell,” a new movie by Jay Roach from Lionsgate,is more interested in the legacy of Roger Ailes, the man who launched Fox News off the ground and made it become what it is today. Ailes was played by Russell Crowerather amazingly this summer in “The Loudest Voice” on Showtime this summer, but Roach is taking a different approach, instead of centering on Ailes himself, the women who tried to take on Fox News and Ailes and the toxic male culture he presided over at the network. Ailes was ousted over charges of sexual harassment and workplace harassment and many well-known celebrity news anchors were at the fore of the story.

“Bombshell” focuses on the story of Charlize Theron as Megyn Kelly Nicole Kidman as Gretchen Carlson and Margot Robbie as the lesser-known Kayla Pospisil, all women who Ailes allegedly harassed and many of them did get very public and expensive multi-million dollar buyouts.

The movie features John Lithgow as Ailes which could be another late-career star-making turn for the veteran actor plus, Allison Janney, Kate McKinnon, Malcolm McDowell, Mark Duplass, Alice Eve, Brigette Lundy-Paine, Liv Hewson, and Alanna Ubach.

Jay Roach is known for comedy, “The Austin Powers” series and the “Meet The Parents” series, but in recent years, he’s turned to very political and serious material like theHBOpolitical movies “Game Change” and “Recount” and “Bombshell” seems to very much fit in that new-ish direction.

Lionsgate is set to release the film on December 20, 2019, and surely they’ll be hoping its some kind of big Oscar contender. Will Fox News be all over it, attempting to discredit it, or ignore like they do white supremacy? Your guess is as good as ours. Watch the first trailer below.
